- Program note :
The piece begins with a piano and vibraphone duet. The other instruments come in gradually. The first part is constructed in a pointillist fashion by gathering the sound objects and multiple very short melodic lines which proliferate.
I didn't hesitate to use tonal music chords to highlight the duo's timbre which is bright.
The Trombone solo opens the second part. First, the ensemble amplifies the section by orchestrating the soloist. Then, it creates a sound block section with melodic interventions by several soloists.
In the third part, the accordion introduces a new sound material by making a sound object in the form of a 'chord'. The ensemble fills the spaces between these chords. Later it plays in tutti creating a section based on multiplicity.
In the fourth part, the ensemble will be covered by the very long reverberation in order to make a contrast with the other parts (dry and wet). However the electronics will cover the ensemble which is played more in the medium register, taking the high and extreme low register.
In the last part, each instrument forms a continuum and we superimpose them to create a sound mass. In a way, it looks like the sound block in the second part, a more organic, even chaotic moment. Not all vertical encounters matter. Therefore, the irregularity makes a contrast to everything else in this piece.
I have used electronics as percussion, soundscapes and reverb, often to fill the gap in the spectrum, and then on some passages as a soloist.
